The Meaning Behind Our Name
“Amani” means peace in Swahili. The name Amani Essence communicates that peace is not simply something we provide—it is at the very heart and essence of our organization.
We believe home care should help families breathe easier and help every person receiving care feel respected, supported, safe, and deeply valued. That belief shapes every visit, every conversation, and every care plan we write.

Mary
Co-Founder
After approximately 25 years in her previous career, Mary was ready for a meaningful new challenge. She was drawn to home care because of the opportunity to serve vulnerable individuals, empower others, and build an organization where compassionate care and human dignity are central.
Lonah
Co-Founder
Lonah brings a long-standing commitment to serving others after a rewarding 17-year career in special education. Her experience taught her the importance of patience, individual dignity, advocacy, empathy, and meeting people where they are. She entered home care to continue serving others in an even more personal way.
Together, Mary and Lonah created Amani Essence Home Care with a simple belief: excellent care should bring more than assistance. It should bring peace.
